Prisoner of Askaban

Prologue

The story of Harry Potter is known to all of us but through this series of articles I am about to tell the tales of Ronald Weasley and Hermione Granger. The articles are based on the book series and as suggestion I would like you to READ this fan fiction ALONG WITH PRISONER OF ASKABAN BOOK.

This is part three of the series of Tales of King Weasley and the Brightest Witch. If you have not read the previous parts yet please go through it.

For the purpose of extending the story I have included some extra facts into the stories. These have been done for expansion of the background of Hermione which has never been explained in the books.

Hope I am able to do justice to the characters from the books as has been created by J. K. Rowling. With these articles, I would try to connect the dots which has been beautifully placed by her throughout the seven books with regard to the relationship between Ron and Hermione. If I have made any mistakes regarding the characters I would be glad to receive your feedbacks in the comments section down below.

Before proceeding any further, I would like to state that if you have not yet read the books or watched the movies on Harry Potter, please take your time to read or watch them first as there are going to be possible SPOILERS AHEAD.

CHAPTER FOUR

The Leaky Cauldron

Diagon Alley was as usually busy at this time of the year with students from Hogwarts buying their books and other equipment necessary for the year. Ron managed to get permission from Mrs. Weasley to go around the town on his own.

“Spend it well and stay on the high road. We'll meet you at the Leaky Cauldron,” said Mrs. Weasley firmly handing him some money.

He was busy buying parchment and quill from Scribbulus Writing Instruments when he heard a girl's voice.

“Ron! RON!”

Hermione?” said Ron. He turned quickly towards the voice but was let down to see Lavender coming towards him.

“It's so nice to see you. I am here with my parents. We were going to get the books. You want to come,” said Lavender.

“I’d've loved to go-” he lied quickly, “but I’ve to go and find my Mum she probably would be looking for me.”

“Oh! It’d’ve been wonderful to get to shop with a friend though. Well, see you tomorrow at Hogwarts Express, bye,” said Lavender. He waved at her as she went out the door.

He came out of Scribbulus Writing Instruments putting a small bag of quills and parchment into his backpack. The street was packed with people.

To his left he saw few students gathering at window of Quality Quidditch Supplies. He pushed his way up to the front and was astonished to see the Firebolt. He gazed at it for a while.

“The all new Firebolt is already at the store. The whole of Irish International Team has it. It has inbuilt smooth steering so you don't have to work hard to make it turn and look at the tail. It would have great balance as well,” he said passionately looking at it pressing himself on the window.

“Yeah— it is the fastest broom. It goes up to 150 just with a kick. This is the prototype, though,” said excitedly a boy, a bit older than Ron, from among the crowd.

After few minutes he walked out of the crowd, though he kept looking back, wishing to be able to ride it just for one moment. He started to walk towards Ollivanders to buy his wand when-

“Ron! RON!”

“Oh No! Not her again,” he murmured under his breath. He increased his pace and kept walking as if he had not heard anything.

“Ron! Will-you-stop-already?”

The tone of voice seemed familiar. He slowly turned and saw Hermione pacing towards him.

“Oh! it's you,” he said brightly. Feeling relieved not to see Lavender again.

“Whom did you thought was calling you then?” said Hermione with a grin stopping in front of him.
“Oh! N-No one,” he said quickly shaking his head.

“Anyways,” said Hermione looking suspiciously at Ron, “how was your trip to Egypt?”

“You already know about all the curse breaking that we went to with Bill. I wrote to you in the letter this summer. Did you not read it?” looking incredulously at her.

“Yes I read it. But- did anything new happen? Did you learn new things?”

“Yes and No,” said Ron with a smirk. “I didn't go there to study, Hermione. Anyways, as I wrote you, Percy is now a Head Boy,” his smile faded away “He still keeps on ranting about it whenever he gets an opportunity. So, Fred and George thought of a great plan back in Egypt. We might have even locked him up in one of the tombs but Mum was furious. Don't know why?” he said with a grin.

“Ron! He is your brother. You should not say things like that about him,” said Hermione

“That's exactly what Mum said!" he said staring at her.

“Anyways,” shaking her head in disbelief “I saw you from across the street, I was going to Madam Malkin’s. I need new robe, the old one is already too short for me. Would you come?"

Ron shrugged and followed Hermione into Madam Malkin's Robes for All Occasions. Sitting at the corner table was a fairly tall and fit woman, professionally dressed. Ron thought she looked quite similar to Hermione except for the eyes. Unlike Hermione’s dark brown eyes, she had green eyes. Next to her was a casually suited up tall man. He had auburn hair and was handsomely sporting a royale beard.

“Mum! Dad! Look whom I met at the street,” said Hermione.

“Ah-You must be Ronald," said Mrs. Granger coming towards them. Ron simply nodded with a charming smile.

“Good to meet you, son,” said Mr. Granger in a modulated tone shaking Ron's hand firmly with a clap on the back. “Hermione always talks about you and Harry,” he said with a grin.

“Good to meet you too, Sir,” he said intimidated by his looks.

“Sir? Why did you call Dad, Sir?” Hermione whispered to Ron raising her eyebrows, nudging him with her elbow.

He shrugged and looked around the shop with an awe. It was filled with beautiful gowns, stylised dress robes and ordinary school robes.

“It's getting a bit late. Let's quickly buy your robe and then we need to get your books too,” said Mr. Granger looking at Hermione.

After quite a few trials Hermione bought her new robe. Ron wandered around the shop looking at various dress robes.

“That one looks quite good on you,” said Mrs. Granger to Hermione coming out of the shop with them.

Ron looked at Hermione with a smirk (“Oh shut up!” Hermione hissed at Ron.) They went to Flourish and Blotts to get their school books. Ron quickly gathered all his books from the list. But it took awhile for the owner to bring in the monster book. After few minutes more Hermione came back with all her books.

“What took you so long?” said Ron looking at Hermione as she appeared behind people in the busy shop.

“I was getting all my books,” shouldering her large backpack.

“So, let's go then,” said Mr. Granger taking the heavy bag from her shoulder.

Hermione along with her parents started walking towards The Leaky Cauldron. Ron didn't move and looked at them as they mixed with the crowd. He started looking around and thought of taking another glance at the Firebolt before going to Ollivander’s as it was a bit less crowded than before. He was was about to enter the shop of Quality Quidditch Supplies when he was pulled back. He turned quickly to see who it was. Hermione had came back looking terrified.

“What are you doing here? I thought you were right behind us,” she said anxiously looking at Ron. “I looked back and you were gone. Aren't you going to come with us?”

“I have a few spare minutes so I thought I'll look around. And I also need to buy a wand.”

“Oh OK! And you didn't thought of informing us,” she snarled. “Wait for me, I'll ask my parents. I'll come with you. I can get my wand checked.”

“OK,” replied Ron as she dashed out of sight in an instant.

After a few minutes Hermione came back with a large backpack on her shoulder. “Mum and Dad said I can go with you. They will wait at the Leaky Cauldron.”

“Oh! We are all staying there for today. Harry has been there for quite some time now. Dad told us he has puffed-up his aunt,” Ron explained with a giggle walking forward.

“What? Ron, that's not funny. Is he all right? He could get expelled for such a thing,” she said with wide-eyes. “Let's go and see what he is up to and we can ask him to come with us.”

“OK,” he shrugged, “but can I first get my wand? I think it's at the end of the road or else we'll have to come back all this way.”

“All right,”

They both walked towards the Ollivander’s Wand Shop. The crowd was now fading as the end of the town came nearer.

“So, how was Paris?” asked Ron.

“It is a wonderful place to visit.” said Hermione looking excitedly at Ron as if she has been waiting ages to tell the story. “I got to learn so much there. The people over there are so polite and would help you out at everything. I went to a bookshop and found this book, Hélas, Je me suis Transfiguré Les Pieds by Malecrit.” Ron stared at her without understanding the last words she spoke. “Did you know that the French started playing Quidditch by the 1400s. And the French national Quidditch team mostly consists of female player. I felt really proud to read that,” she said all very fast excitedly.

Ron gazed her with amazement, 'Hermione speaking about Quidditch' he thought with a slight smirk. He looked around the street as Hermione had now started to talking about the various new spells she learnt over the summer.

At the very end of the Diagon Alley stood the shop of Ollivander’s. They pushed the door open.

“Welcome, Miss Granger," said Mr. Ollivander as they both entered the shop. "Is your wand alright? May I see it,” he stretched out his hand.

She took out her wand from her pocket and handed it to him.

“Ah- yes, yes, I remember,” he said holding the delicately and inspecting it very closely. “10¾ inch, Vine Wood, Dragon Heartstring, Slightly Yielding. A very fine wand. Learns quicker than any other.” He flicked her wand to conjure a beautiful flower. “Your wand is perfectly fine, Miss Granger,” said Mr. Olivander handing it back.

“Thank you, Mr. Ollivander.” pocketing back her wand. “It is my friend who has come to buy a new wand. His old wand broke last year in an— accident,” she said it with frown at Ron.

“You must be Arthur and Molly's son,” said Mr. Ollivander looking at Ron.

“Yes, Ronald Weasley,”

“Yes, yes- I remember very well giving each one of your family members their first wands. They all are very talented. It is most fascinating as they all carry a common wand core,” he said with a gentle smile.

“Let's see, then,” he went in search among the thousand of wands in the shop. After few minutes he came back holding a box. “Yes, I think I have just the one for you, Mr. Weasley,” taking out a wand he continued “14 inch, Willow, Quite Bendy, with a single Unicorn Tail Hair,” he held out the wand towards Ron.

The moment Ron held the wand it felt like a part of his own body. It was so soothing to hold he didn't want to let go of it for a moment. He clutched it tightly in his hand.

After buying his new wand, Ron was quite glad and was eager to use it as soon as possible. He pocketed his wand and both of them walked back towards the Leaky Cauldron. Finally, they could see the Leaky Cauldron on top of the heads of people.

They went inside and asked for Harry but he was not there nor had Mrs. Weasley returned yet. Mr. and Mrs. Granger was sitting at the counter talking to each other. Hermione went up to them and after few minutes she came back smiling.

“I asked if I can stay here for today and go to the station with you all,”

“And…” said Ron trying to keep up.

“They agreed. They are getting a room for me,” she said eagerly. “You want to go and look around the town.”

“OK, Let's go. We might even find Harry somewhere.”

The street was getting filled with known faces. They met Neville who came with his grandmother, the Patil twins with their mother. To Ron annoyance they even saw Percy sitting inside Rosa Lee Teabag holding hands of Penelope Clearwater, the Ravenclaw Prefect. Hermione kept giggling looking at Ron's grumpy look.

“It's getting pretty hot, isn't it. Let's have an ice-cream,” said Ron wiping his forehead with his sleeve. They walked backed to Florean Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlour.

“Which one would you take?” asked Hermione looking at the different flavours of ice-creams. “I think I'll go for that one,” pointing at the honey coloured ice-cream marked as Hokey-Pokey.

Ron could not decide which one to take so he ordered the one Hermione ordered. They took their cups of ice-creams and sat outside the shop. The street was getting busier as noon approached. Hermione started talking about all the things that she learnt in France.

After half of their ice-cream had been finished, Ron saw Harry walking on the opposite side of the street.

“Harry! HARRY!” Ron cried on top of his voice raising his hands up high. Hermione stopped her narration and quickly looked at the spot Ron was looking.

****
As they crossed the street towards the Magical Menagerie Ron pulled back Hermione out of Harry's earshot.

“So, when is your birthday?” Ron whispered to Hermione

“I just said it few minutes ago, Ron,” Hermione said being startled.

“I know it's in September but which day?” said Ron irritatingly.

“Why?”

“So, we can send you presents, that's why,” said Ron.

“But I don’t want any present,” she said looking puzzled.

“Are you telling me or will I have send you present whole of September?” he said in a snotty way.

“No. And don't even think about it,” she snarled.

“So we're settling for present whole of September then. OK. Fine with me. But don’t expect anything huge,” said Ron.
“I don’t want any present,” Hermione whispered with a snarl. Ron pretended not to listen and walked towards Magical Menagerie with a grin.

“What are you two talking about?” said Harry looking back at them.

“Nothing,” said Ron and Hermione together quickly.

CHAPTER FIVE

The Dementor

Ron, Ginny and Hermione went towards the compartment as Harry was called back by Mr. Weasley.

“Happy Birthday, Hermione,” said Ron. He took out the Bertie Botts Every Flavoured Beans from his bag and handed over one bean to Hermione from it. She ignored Ron and started walking fast towards the empty compartment clutching the bean so hard in her hand it broke in two.

“Hermione, you didn't tell me it was your birthday,” said Ginny walking up to her.

“I didn't because-” glaring at Ron “it is not my birthday,” she snarled at Ron. Ron looked at both of them with a grin.

“Why are you smiling, you idiot? She said it's not her birthday, ” Ginny sneered.

Ron walked towards the compartment with strut.

CHAPTER SIX

Talons and Tea Leaves

On their second day, Ron came down to the common room a bit earlier than Harry. He walked up to Hermione, who was waiting for Ron and Harry for breakfast with a large backpack on her shoulder talking to Seamus.

“Happy Birthday,” he said. He took out one bean and gave it to Hermione. Hermione closed her eyes and tried to calm herself down.

“I didn't know it was your birthday today, Hermione. Happy Birthday,” said Seamus gently. She smiled and looked sharply at Ron with glaring eyes.

“Will you stop that,” she whispered to Ron.

“Not till you say when is your birthday.” he said simply with a smirk.

He continued to give one bean everyday to Hermione. Half way through the month Hermione was getting used to this and took the beans with a smile. She also accepted wishes from some of the students around her.

“Happy Birthday, Hermione. Ron told me to give you this,” said Neville.

“Yeah-Thanks. This is exactly what I was waiting for,” she said sarcastically taking the Bertie Botts Every Flavoured Bean.

CHAPTER EIGHT

Flight of Fat Lady

On Nineteenth, Hermione woke up a bit earlier than usual and went downstairs to the common room. It was empty except for Ron who was lying on his belly on the hearthrug with his head on the potions book. As she went towards him, she saw he was fast asleep.

Good Morning,” she said in a sing-song tone, poking him to wake him up.

“Oh! Good Morning,” said Ron peeking with half opened sleepy eyes. He again went back to sleep.

“What are you doing in the common room this early in the morning?” she said nudging him again trying to keep a straight-face.

“I'm up- I'm up. What happened?” Ron jerked up.

“I was asking what are you doing here.” she sat down in the couch in front of the fireplace which was now absolutely extinguished.

“I was trying to finish my potions homework,” he mumbled. “Anyways, forget about that. Happy Birthday.” he said with a teasing smile sitting up.

“Are you still going to continue that?” she said with a straight face.

“Yeah- till you say when is your birthday,”

“Don't you have any beans for me today?” said Hermione with a mischievous smile looking at the Bertie Botts Every Flavoured Beans box lying beside Ron.

“No. I ate them all last night,” he groaned. “But I might have something to give you. I'll have to check though, I just can't remember.”

“It's all right, don't bother about it,” she said with a laugh shaking her head looking down. “So have you finished your essay then? Let me see.” she said stretching out her hand asking for his parchment.

“Yes. I think so,” he said handing her over his essay. “Hermione, I think-” he said absentmindedly “I have an eye for you.”

“You have WHAT?” she exclaimed with a startle.

“Er- I mean- I mean-” he said with wide eyes realising what he just said “a- a REAL EYE, as a present.”

“What are you trying to say?” she repeated with quizzical look.

“Er- Wait here,” he got up and ran towards the boy's dormitory. Hermione stared at him as he went upstairs.

He ruffled his trunk for few minutes and found the small box he was looking for. He grabbed it and ran down to the common room. Hermione was sitting on the couch reading Ron's essay.

“I was talking about this,” Ron held out a small box in front of Hermione.

“Ron, remember, if there is an eyeball, I am going to throw it on your face,” she snarled looking at the box Ron was holding.

She slowly stretched out her hand to take the box and opened it with a gulp. There was no eyeball but a small circular bronze pendant on which a symbol was engraved in the shape of an eye. Around the circular edge there were figures curved in ancient language.

“What is this?” she said slowly looking at symbol closely. “I think I have seen it somewhere."

“Mum got this for me from Egypt. They have this symbol everywhere. I think the shopkeeper told it was for protection or something. After last year, I think you need protection more than I do,” he said simply.

“Yes. Now I remember. I read this in my runes books at the start of the term. This is the Wedjat. It gives protection to its beholder. Wedjat represents the eye of the falcon god, Horus, and is considered as a lucky sign. These have high importance in Egyptian Witchcraft and you're saying you didn't learn anything. This is the best birthday present ever. Thanks Ron.” said Hermione enthusiastically looking at the pendant.

The common room was getting a little crowded as students started coming down for breakfast.

Today is your birthday!” he said throwing himself on the armchair beside the fireplace.

“Yes,” said Hermione looking at Ron with a smirk.

Ron got up and walked towards Seamus and Dean on being called. “See you at breakfast,” cried at Hermione and went to talk to them.

****

Ron, Hermione, Neville, Dean and Seamus along with the other students walked towards Hogsmeade. Ron, Dean and Seamus were discussing enthusiastically about the Quidditch World Cup that was about to be held next year. Hermione was teaching Neville what they learnt in the potions lessons till now. Ron kept on looking back towards Crookshanks who was held by Hermione in her arms.

“Will you put that monster down?” Ron said angrily holding Scabbers close to his chest as Crookshanks kept hissing at him. “Why did you even bring him?”

“The same reason you brought that dead rat of yours,” she snapped “Don't listen to that mean boy,” she cooed at Crookshanks stroking it's fur. Crookshanks jumped off her arms and slowly walked ahead of them leading the way.

“He is doing that on purpose,” he murmured pocketing Scabbers in his jumper as Crookshanks kept slowing down in front of him. He thought of kicking the cat every time it came in front of his legs but couldn't as Hermione kept close watch on it.

“Why would you say that? Look at him, he is so good, leading the way for us,” said Neville admiring the cat.

“If he tried to eat your toad, I'll see how good he was to you,” Ron sneered.

Students started splitting up in groups as they reached the entrance to the village. Five of them walked together into the village. Crookshanks walked towards the Shrieking Shack.

“Look! That way is the Shrieking Shack,” said Seamus pointing at the sign. “Let's go there.”

“Well, we can go there later everyone will go there first,” said Ron.

“How about the Three Broomsticks then?” Dean suggested

“We can visit the Three Broomsticks when we return,” seeing the crowd in the shop. “Let's see where can we go first.”

“How about Honeydukes?” said Neville.

“No. We will go there at the end. We have to take something for Harry. Isn’t it? We can't carry it around with us.” Ron said simply.

“How about the post office then? Let's go there.” suggested Hermione

“Yeah- the post office seems less crowded. Let's go there,” said Ron.

A little bell rang as Hermione pushed to open the door to the Post Office. Five of them entered the post office to a baffling sight. Owls of different shape, size and colour sat on the shelves differentiated with their type of postal services. People were sending letters and presents. After few minutes they came out with bewildered looks.

“Did you see the owls? It's so different from what we have in the city,” said Hermione.

“Yeah- it's such a wonderful place,” Neville said excitedly.

“Let's go to Zonko's,” Ron cried and ran towards the shop.

“Ron, wait up!” cried Hermione and ran behind him followed by others.

They entered the shop and spent half their time in the shop watching at the various products. They stayed back few more minutes as the Hallowe'en Special Fireworks Show inside the shop had just started.

“Let's go we still need to go to Dervish and Banges. It's at the end of the village,” said Dean.

Against all of their wishes they came out of the shop before the end of the fireworks. As they walked towards Dervish and Banges something fell and clawed Ron.

“Geroff -Geroff” Ron shouted holding the lump on his chest throwing his other arm as Crookshanks jumped on him from the roof top of Scrivenshaft's Quill Shop.

“Ron, you would hurt him.” Hermione came running towards him and picked Crookshanks in her arms.

I would hurt him. Look what he did to me, LOOK,” he bellowed showing the scratches on his arms.

“He didn't mean to,” she said brooding over the scratches on Ron's arm.

“Keep it away from me,” he snarled glaring at Crookshanks.

As they all went inside Dervish and Banges Neville ran towards the shelf of cameras. Dean and Seamus started playing with different Dark Arts Equipment.

After spending quite a few minutes Neville came back with an Instocamera. As Neville explained it printed the moving pictures instantly. He started clicking pictures of them blinding them with flashes of light. Neville captured their moments in his Instocamera as Dean and Seamus animated the professors. Ron was watching Hermione laughing at their animations when everything around him went very bright in front of his eyes for a while. He blinked furiously.

“Look! I have got one with you and Ron?” Neville said to Hermione holding out the picture.

“Why did you take my picture?” said Ron pacing towards Neville. He snatched the picture held in his arm before he could show it to Hermione. He took a quick glance and pocketed it.

“Let me see it,” Hermione said.

“No!” said Ron and ran out of the shop out the shop.

“Ron, where are you going?" cried Hermione following him out the shop with Neville. Dean and Seamus stayed back to buy some instruments for themselves.

“I don't know. And keep that monster away from Scabbers,” he cried back.

“Oh! Don't be mad at each other over him," cried Neville to Ron, "Here, Hermione, let me hold him.” He held Crookshanks in his arms and walked ahead of them keeping a good distance between Ron and Crookshanks.

“Will you please stop this and savour our first visit?” said Hermione walking up to Ron. Ron ignored Hermione's words and walked towards Honeyduke’s.

They reached Honeyduke’s after a long walk. When Neville opened the door Ron could smell the scent of beautiful sweets and chocolate. As he entered the shop with Hermione, Ron saw floating candles suspended in mid air which gave a warm glow inside the shop. Neville was waiting in the counter with Crookshanks held in his arms. Seeing Ron enter he walked to the corner where sweets of various flavoured were shelved.

“You want to get sugar quills?" said Hermione looking hopefully at Ron. But he simply ignored and walked towards the sweet stalls.

“Fine, keep ignoring,” Hermione snarled and walked to the sweet counter. The shopkeeper was handing fudge to everyone as a Hallowe’en special.

“Try this Creamery Extra-Chocolate Fudge. It is our new addition,” said the shopkeeper to Hermione handing her few pieces, “Give some to your friend as well,” he said with a smile.

Hermione took them and went to Ron who was looking at the sweets.

“Here, eat it. It'll help,” she repeated Professor Lupin’s words with a smile. Ron chuckled and took the fudge. After a few minutes Neville came back from the corner seeing Ron and Hermione not bickering.

They came out of the shop holding bags of sweets as Dean and Seamus joined them with huge bags held in their arms.

“Did you buy the whole shop?” said Dean with a grin.

It had started to get a bit cold as snow had started falling when they came out of Honeydukes. They all ran towards the Three Broomsticks.

As they entered, all four boys stared at the bar maid dreamily. Hermione pushed Ron to see what they were staring at. They were all staring at the curvy lady at the bar. Hermione shook her head with disgust.

“Let's get some butterbeer,” said Ron dreamily and walked towards the bar.

“You get the seats. I’ll get the drinks,” said Hermione pulling Ron back. Ron scowled at her.

After few minutes she came back with five bottles of Butterbeers. To Hermione’s annoyance, the boys sat there talking about Madam Rosmerta for hours. It was almost dusk and students started to return back to Hogwarts. Dean and Seamus got up as soon as they finished their drinks. Neville too had finished his drink and went to find Crookshanks and after few moment he came back holding Crookshanks in his arms.

“If you are done-” sneered Hermione to Ron who was holding his empty tankard to his mouth staring at the bar, “then we too can leave.” Neville sniggered and went out holding Crookshanks.

Dean, Seamus and Hermione had a great laugh as Neville mimicked Ron when they got back on the street towards Hogwarts. (“Come here and do that again,” Ron cried) Neville ran as Ron had started to chase him with a mischievous smile all his way back.

CHAPTER FIFTEEN

The Quidditch Final

As Harry finished reading the letter from Hagrid, Ron couldn't take his eyes off Hermione. He could not understand why everything around him started to get cold seeing her sad face when they were sitting beside the fireplace inside their cosy common room. Hagrid's words was now coming back to him “She’s cried a fair few times.” He kept thinking she was working hard for Hagrid's case all by herself and he has been brawling over his pet .

“Yeah, it will.” said Ron fiercely as Hermione stopped, mustering some unknown courage. “You won't have to do all the work alone this time, Hermione. I'll help.”

The moment Hermione embraced him, his heart started pounding strongly inside his chest. He quickly glanced at Harry who was staring at them. All he wanted at that moment was her to stop crying. He went so stiff he could not even pick up his hand. With a lot of effort he picked up his shaking hand and patted Hermione on her head.

CHAPTER TWENTY-TWO

Owl Post Again

“Ron! Here!” cried Mrs. Weasley as Harry walked into the crowd.

Ron waved back at Mrs. Weasley and started walking towards her but stopped and turned around. He went back to Hermione.

“It'll be great if you come too, you know, for the World Cup. You should not miss it.” said Ron, looking at Hermione.

“I'll love to, but I have to ask my parents,” said Hermione.

“OK. Can I have your feletone number? I'll call you. Then you can help with my homework.”

Telephone, Ron,” said Hermione with a giggle. She wrote her number on a small parchment and handed it to him.

“Yeah, that's what I said,” Ron pocketed the parchment with a shy smile.
