Birthday is more than balloons - Involving the kids to be a part of the Birthday décor prep

Kids are the most important part of any person’s life. They are always eager to learn new things and always trying to question their mind about the new things they see. But before we begin, we must follow one simple rule, as once stated by Margaret Mead that “Children must be taught how to think, not what to think.

Birthdays are a special day for any child and there are a lot of things the kids can learn out of the very art of decorating. There are many parts of decorations than to just blow balloons which the kids can be a part of. We should be involving them so that they are able to not only enjoy but be able to learn and fulfil their eagerness.

So how can we involve little kids in decorating which shall not only be enjoyable for them but educational too?

Kids are fast learners as they have enthusiasm to know things and we can do this by teaching them easy and fun ways to do things that might not only help in decoration but also help in the upbringing of the child. Some of the things that even the kids can help you with in decoration of Birthdays are as follows:

Collage Making:
Collage is an easy art of decoration. Even a 4-5 year old can be taught a simple collage by tearing of pieces of coloured paper and sticking them on a cardboard cut-out with glue. The elders can draw simple outlines of the kid’s favourite character and define each section with simple colours. The kids can then easily attach the required colours in the given section. These can be put as wall décor or as invitation cards for the guests.

Origami:
Origami is a paper-art which not only looks beautiful but is also a simple way of decorating. The kids can be taught some simple origami decorations like flower, birds, or any other simple things which can used as table attractions. They can build even larger origami pieces by being in a group which can be used to hang from the ceiling.

Basic Cooking:
Kids above eight years can be taught simple and easy cooking. They can try making cupcakes and cookies which can be presented to the guests. They can even help in decorating the birthday cakes.
Simple DIY Projects:
There are many easy DIY (do it yourself) projects that the kids can make without harming or injuring themselves or anyone. Some of which are colourful orbs or light sheds which can be another way to make the place look more attractive.

Arranging Simple Games:
The kids can arrange for games for them to enjoy with their friend on a birthday. They can arrange for memory games, cardboard castles, glass pyramid building and many other simple games.

There are many activities that we can involve the kids into in any birthday decoration prep. In this way we can easily make the kids be a part of the décor which will be interesting as well as playful and educating for them. In conclusion, as Garrison Keillor said “Nothing you do for children is ever wasted”. Anything we teach the kids today shall stay with them for ever and would help them in their future.

Questions for you:
What more other ideas can you think of which can involve kids in the décor prep?
Do you think that the kids need more fun-filled works in their lives than the burden of studies?
