SOLAR ENERGY- A CHOICE FOR THE BETTER FUTURE

Earth is in a depleting state and in this current scenario of the world we are always searching for more sustainable and a renewable source of energy. One of the better choices of sustainable and renewable source of energy among many others is the use of Solar Energy. Solar energy is harnessed from the radiant light and heat of the Sun using the ever-growing technology of active and passive solar technologies. One of which are photovoltaic panels better known as Solar Panels. As correctly stated by Ramez Naam “Solar power is going to be absolutely essential to meeting growing energy demands while staving off climate change.”

Solar Panels are build using photovoltaic cells which helps in absorption of solar energy and thus creating a clean renewable energy. They are currently being slowly adopted by many countries in place of using non-renewable sources of energy. Many industries have also followed the path of adopting this particular source of renewable energy making them more and more efficient.

Initiatives taken by India along with its contemporaries of the World:

The International Solar Alliance Forum, headquartered at Gurgoan, India, dedicated to innovation, digitalisation and transformation in the global energy mix, held at Abu Dhabi, 17 Countries participated in the World Future Energy Summit, 2018. Its discussions centred mostly on the initiation of better ways for the use solar power.

The Smart Cities Initiative by the Government of India aiming at transforming the way by which we ran our cities among other transformations would install solar panel roof tops on every household making it energy efficient for the people of those cities. In the year 2017, India have become the first country in the world to have built and launch a hybrid Solar powered and diesel train running from Delhi’s Safdarjung station to Farukh Nagar. As added by Shri R.K. Singh during the World Future Energy Summit, 2018 “India has one of the fastest growing Renewable Energy programmes in the world and would achieve 175 GW target of installed Renewable Energy capacity well before 2020.”

•Solar Thermal hot water panels: They are used for heating water tanks. They can be used in place of electricity consuming geysers which is harmful for the environment.

•Solar Car Port: They are used for charging solar powered vehicles.

•Solar Pool Heating: These are best options for people having in-build pools in houses to use this technology for heating pools.

While concluding we may refer to the several benefits that we have till now achieved by mere installations of solar panels in just few of the localities it is unimaginable the improvement that we can achieve in the near future when we finally would have accepted this sustainable source of energy in all our lives.
